FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
The 1.0.0. F., ALU., and the A.O.F. met last niglit in a friendly card tournament. At crib both sides won twelve games, but at euchre tjie Foresters got fifteen games to their opponents’ eleven. This was a return game, the Oddfellows having won on the previous occasion by five games. It is likely that a game for tho rubber will be arranged. Air. C. H. Amhridgo on. behalf of the Oddfellows thanked the Foresters for tlicir presence. Air. File, secretary of the Foresters, replied. They hail, he said, enjoyed the evening; and lie would use his best endeavours to get another game played, as the Foresters were the original challengers. Refreshments were partaken of, and the gathering broke up with the singing of “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.”
A presentation was made at the meeting of the 1.0.0. F., AI.U.. last night to Bro. D. Thompson, P.G., by the secretary, Bro. Ambridge. The presentation consisted of a P.G. framed emblem. Bro. Ambridge eulogised Bro. Thompson’s hard work for the Lodge, stating that lie was one of the original members- of the Juvenile Lodge, that lie had since successfully passed through the chairs in the adult Lodge, anil that he at present held the office of Lecture Master. Bro. Thompson feelingly responded.
Bro. S. D. AlcPliei-son was installed as N.G. at last night’s meeting of tho 1.0.0. F., AI.U., by Bro. Thompson, Lecture Alaster. He appointed Bro. Robertson as bis Right- Hand Supporter and Bro. AValker as his Left Hand Supporter. Bro. Sim was appointed Warden.
