A RECORD LAST YEAR. RECORD LAMB EXPORT. (Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, last night. The approximate number of sheep n the colony oil 30tli April last was i() 816 799 an estimated increase tor The year of 843,821. The increases n tiie various districts arc as follows :
Auckland, 133,969. Napier and Gisborne 100,62 b. Wellington and West Coast 413,444. Marlborough and Nelson 69,299.
Otago 71,483. In the Canterbury and Kaikour district there is a decrease of 130,493. The increase in the North Island is 703,039 and in tho South Island only 5,289. The approximate total number is a record for the colony. In 1902 the number was 20,342, but in the following year there was a drop to 1,895,400. The number of mutton carcases exported for the. year ended 30th April last was 1,921,465, which is an improvement upon the previous year’s export, but does not come up to the figures of 1903 and 1904. The number of lamb carcases exported, however, has increased to 2,519,417, a record for the colony.
