TINSELITIS THE NEW CRAZE.
Fashionable women have adopted a new dress craze, diagnosed as “tinselitis.” The symptoms differ from “sequinitis,” the malady of last season, and the sequinecl gown will no longer be chief favorite. “Tinsehtis has affected dress, millinery, notepaper, and picture postcards, and has opened a new profession for woMcn. “There is an extraordinary deunand for tinsel,” the manager of a picture postcard firm informed gran Express representative. “It be- • -•>„ with the postcards of actresses, • -hich only the jewels were picked f r with tinsel. The favorite picture i tcard is now a blaze of this glittering powder- The pew craze opens u)) splendid employment for women. The cards are embossed witli a raised uncolored pattern of flowers and scenery. The artist must then tint the card ,and where the tinsel is to be applied a specially prepared gum is laid on. The glitering powder is then shaken all over the card and tilted off again, leaving the correct quantity clinging to the gum.' A well-known French costumier regards “tinselitis” as one of the most artistic of complaints. “There is an innate desire in the feminine heart to glitter,” lie said. “The milioiiaires. can indulge in diamonds. ‘Tinselitis will be the pet diseaso of the enormous number of women who cannot afford real diamonds, and will not wear paste.
