LONDON AA’OOL SALES. United Press Association—Cop/rigid LONDON, July The fourth series of London colonial wool sales opened with fair competition. Merinos are unchanged, crossbreds par to five per centum decline. Received July 10, 10.18 p.m. LONDON, July 10. At the wool sales 8992 bales were catalogued. The miscellaneous inferior selection included 7420 bales of New Zealand. There was a large attendance of Americans supporting best merinos ,and fine crossbreds. Compared' .with May rates merinos and best greasy crossbreds were fully equal to highest rates. Shabbier and coarse crossbreds occasionally declined 5 per cent. Slipes were in large supply. Fine best medium declined a halfpenny, and coarse a halfpenny to a penny.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Co. have received the following advice from their London office undei date the 9th inst.:—
“As compared with last sales’ closing rates prices are 7) per cent, to 10 per cent, lower for greasy crossbred slipe and medium crossbred slipo, md about par to 5 per cent, lower for rossbred lambs, medium greasy crossbred and coarse greasy crossbred. Brices arc about the same for fine crossbred. Market is firmer for merino.” GOLD-MINE RETURN. Press Association. AUCKLAND, yesterday. The Talisman Consolidated mine obtained gold valued at £27,517 from 3470 tons of ore crushed, being above the average grade.
