MR JULIUS KNIGHT.

The return of Mr Julius Knight to Clisborio on Monday next- advent ~f note in the theatrical history or this town. The season is hmited to three nights only, and the t lie staged are at present the succebws the London season. Raffles ftne A mateur Cracksman) to be presented on Mondav, is by E. W. Hornung and Eugene W. Presbrey. The part of “Raffles” is pronounced by the Sydney press to be one of Mr. Knight’s best performances. Not the least interesting of the scenes in the play is that of the burglary m the first act —the darkened room, the detective asleep in his chair before the fire, the stealthy entrance first of the amateur cracksman, then or the genuine burglar. The action and interest of the play are said to become intense with each act until tney culminate in a truly startling finale. On Tuesday “Brigadier Gerard, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, vdl be staged. This play ranks with Raffles” as one of Mr. Knight’s best efforts, but in an entirely different character. “Brigadier Gerard is a production of the Napoleonic period, and Mr. Knight in the title role gets some splendid opportunities to display his power of acting, and the tell'ino- and forcible situations are ot absorbing interest. The farewell apnearanc© on Wednesday, July 17th will be in that glorious success, “Robin Hood,” another play from the company’s repertoire. Mr. Knight is supported by Mr. 7T. C. Williamson’s New English Dramatic Company, supplemented by some of the very best Australian talent. On Thursday morning, tee box plans will be opened at • His Majesty’s Theatre under the supervision of Mr. W. Miller.
