Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, yesterday. Woods, who suicided at Tataraima-, ka, had been in Porirua Asylum. In the Supreme Court to-day judgment was given in the appeal of the executors of the late James Paul’s estate against an assesment of the Commissioner of Taxes on the goodwill of the brewery in the estate, which was put at £6OOO. The appeal was dismissed, with 21 guineas costs. CHRISTCHURCH, yesterday.
Now that the high pressure water supply has been solved, renewed interest is being shown in proposals of the City Council to harness the W aimakariri river for the purpose oi providing electric power, for the city, the Mayor proposes to push on with the necessary investigation of the matter, with the object of placing a definite scheme before the ratepayers at an early date. Further particulars of the Upuawhanga stabbing case tend to show that Bradshaw, who shot his uncle and subsequently committed suicide, was mentally deranged. A settler who witnessed the tragedy states that Bisset was lying on the ground, and said to Bradshaw, “Boy, whatever induced you to do this?” Bradshaw replied, u My head has been full of queer notions lately. # I had an ide?i you came into the mill just now and

If there was not some insuperable obstacle he agreed with the deputation that the main rolls should bo printed by private enterprise. He promised to brino- the matter before Cabinet as earlv as possible.
