United Press Association—Copyright LONDON, July 7i Mr. Perks, a member of the House of Commons, submits to Sir Wilfred Laurier a scheme for a ship canal from Georgian Bay' through three great lakes down the Ottawa river to Montreal and the Saint Lawrence at a cost of twenty millions.

He stated that his presidency of the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey was purely honorary, and he had not taken part in its affiars for from eight to ten years, and was without knowledge of its connection with the Indiana Company. The examination which has concluded, was resultless.
