MR JULIUS KNIGHT.
Unquestionably one of the most important dramatic events to Gisborne theatregoers is the announcement of the re-appearanco here at His Majesty’s on Monday of Mr. Julius Knight, supported by Mr. J. C. Williamson’s new English Dramatic Company, who have been specially selected in England and America by Mr Julius Kniglit for his tour of Australasia. Mr Knight and his company and the plays they present have received tiro most enthusiastic receptions everywhere, and the press and public arc unanimous in their plaudits of one and- all. “Raffles” (the Amateur Cracksman), which is to be staged here on Monday, is from the joint work of E. W. Hornung and Eugeno W. Presbrey. The clear and well-written dialogue, the telling situations, and the intensely interesting development of the story, are followed with rapt attention from start to finish. On Tuesday “Brigadier Gerard,” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, will bo presented. The piece is described as a romantic comedy, and the period of the story lends itself to picturesque dressings and scenery. Another nreat attraction will be staged for the farewell production bv the company. Mr. Julius Knight and Mr. Williamson’s companv are said to be an attraction extraordinary in all the “lavs. The three roles that Mr Knight appears in are entirely different, and give this popular actor an opportunity to display his versatility. The season is limited to three nights only, and the box plans will be opened on Thursday morning next at His Majesty’s Theatre under the supervision of Mr. W. Miller.
