On a recent evening, as tlie train was nearing Taiiniaruimi. slates the “King Country Chronicle," a passenger who lnnl been relieving the tedium of the journey by “tilling ‘cm up again,” aeeukuitly wandered over the side of the train into the outer darkness. The remainder of the passengers thought lie was killed, and as soon as the train arrived at the station, a jigger was despatched along the line to bring in the corpse. After proceeding about a mile the relief party met the missing-man walking towards his destination. He cheerfully informed them that only for the train Having a flying start he would have backed himself to beat it into Taumarunui.
