BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.

MR MACINTOSH AND THE DIRECTORS. Atf INQUIRY ASKED FOll. Special to Times. WELLINGTON, last night. ’ Mr Alexander Macintosh, formerly general manager of the Bank of New Zealand, is petitioning Parliament, claiming £1482 salary payable to him as chief auditor of the Bank of New Zealand. He points out that against his own wish ho was compelled to discharge the duties of auditor (while also acting as general manager) between the 22nd June, 1903, and 16th April, 1904, because the then' Colonial Treasurer, Mr. Seddon, refused to accept his resignation as auditor. The petitioner states that he continued to act as general manager of the Bank till -31st March, 1906, on which date, because of differences which had arisen between himself and the directors of the said Bank, lie felt compelled in his own interests to relinquish the position. In addition to the request in regard to salary earned but not paid, Mr. Macintosh also asks that the House will, in the interests of the Bank of New Zealand and of the colony, bo pleased to direct that an inquiry be held into the circumstances which led to the retirement of tho petitioner from the service of the Bank. Mr. Macintosh is now manager of the Government Savings Bank of New South Wales. His petition was presented by Mr. Aitken, M.H.R.
