UNWHOLESOME BUTTER.

Press Association. WANGANUI, yesterday. At the Court this morning a local baker was fined £5 and costs on a charge of having on his premises for the purpose oT preparation for sale for human consumption four pounds of butter, the same being unwholesome and unfit for human consumption. Medical evidence was given to the offect that the butter was not only rancid and discolored, but possibly teeming with bacteria. The defence was that the butter was only used for greasing tins in the bakehouse.
