Borden, leader of the Canadian Opposition, in a message to Canadians on the 40th anniversary of the Confederation, remarks: AVhile the question of closer trade relations with the Motherland is of much higher importance to Britain than Canada, yet it is infinitely of greater moment to the Empire’s* future than some British statesmen seem to imagine. They have been too long asleep, and may have a rudo awakening.
