WRECK OF A SCOW.
A PERILOUS EXPERIENCE. Press Association. AUCKLAND, Yesterday. Tlie scow Tramp, which was recently stranded'on the West Coast, had a perilous experience. She was- proceeding from ICaipara to Manukau, loaded with log timber, and was caught in the fierce gale. Staggering under a staysail only, the vessel was enveloped with great sheets of water. It was found necessary to cut adrift the only boat carried for fear that in swinging it s-kould smash the steering gear. Captain Daniels said the only hope seemed to beach the scow. The captain lashed himself to the -wheel, and the four hands too'k t'o the rigging. The scow headed for a sandy beach at Parlchurst. The scow shipped heavy seas, but gotthrough the surf safely, and was. driven well up on the beach 12 miles south
of Ivuipara Heads. All hands came, through the ordeal well. The soow. sustained little damage, and is expected to be floated when the wind changes.
