United Press Association—Copyright MELBOURNE, July 1. _At tho half-yearly meeting of the Kauri Timber Company the chairman stated the business was active and prospects were good. The company’s liabilities had now been re-' duced to £7OOO. If they went on as thev were doing they would have a clean balance-sheet in about two years.
Press Association. ■ WELLINGTON, last night. To-day’s quotations from the Wellington Stock Exchange are: Talisman buyers £1 15s 9d, sellers £1 16s 6d; Waihi buyers £8 15s. sellers £8 15s 6d.
LONDON MARKETS. Press Association. WELLINGTON, —esterday. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated London, June 29, states: “The mutton market is dull. There is a scarcity of prime quality on offer, and a fair demand continues for this class. The average: price of Canterbury is 3Jd. The lamb market is weak, and there is a large supply on hand. Canterbury lamb is at old, and other than Canterbury sd. The beef market remains firm.' A decline in prices, however, seems imminent. Hind quarters'3Jd, fores 3jd. The butter market is quiet, but steady. A considerable quantity now arriving is being placed in ‘ cold stores. Choicest New Zealand is at 995, Siberian 935, Danish 109 s. The cheese market is quiet, buyers holding back expecting prices to go lower. New Zealand white manufacture is at 625, colored at 61s, The average price of Canadian new make is 58s. The hemp market is steady. Holders are firm. Good fair grade on spot is at £34 10s, fair grade in the same position £3O, fair current Manila on spot £35. "The cocksfoot seed market is firm;.- and a better demand is experienced. Bright, clean New Zealand seed <is at 55s per cwt.
