One of the prisoners sentenced at the Christchurch Supremo Court the other day had a remarkable piece of good fortune. 11l delivering sentence his Honor said: “Six months imprisonment; no, twelve. Well, as I’ve said it, six months; I don t wish to alter it, but that was a slip. It should have been twelve months.” So the man went to gaol for six months, and looked correspondingly relieved.
