STRUGGLE FOR TRADE. Press Association. AUCKLAND, last night. At a meeting of the committee of the N.Z. Shipowners’ Federation on Friday, it was resolved to ask the Minister for Marine to permit news of vessels bound to Auckland, passing Cape Maria Van Diemen on Sundays, being telegraphed, and posted outside the Post Office. The following resolution was also carried: “That this federation desires to express the greatest indignation at the opinions expressed in the New Zealand Times, Wellington, of Juno 22, wherein Wellington firms were advised to take advantage of the unfortunate disaster to the Kia Ora, by-en-deavoring to divert Kawliia trade from Auckland to Wellington, in sjiite of the efforts made by the Northern Steamship Co. to promptly place another steamer on the line. It was further resolved in the event of such an attempt being made the federation would render every assistance to the Northern Co. to defeat the proposal. A cablegram has been sent by the federation to Sir James Mills, congratulating him on the honor conferred by the King. -
