Tho switch blew out twice with the result that the car rail; back downhill, till the conductor rusliod through tlio cur and applied tho ratchot brake. At tho lowor oiid, while tho car was whizzing downhill another tram appeared on tho lino, coining up tho hill. Sevoral passengers, droading a collision, sprang off the runaway car, most of tliom falling moro or less heavily, and sustaining cuts and bruises. Tho second car was stopped, and the smartness of tho conductor on the runaway brought the latter to a stop in safety.
