KAITI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The Kaiti School Committee held their monthly meeting at Mr. J. \V. Brght’s residence, Kaiti, last night. Present: —Mr. J. AV. Bright (in the chair), Messrs. A. J. Fyson, Mauue, Hay, K. H. Humphries (secretary). Tile question of insurance of the building for church purposes at £IOOO was discussed. The chairman said that Mr. Morgan, a member of the Education Board, obtained the chairman’s ruling, with th e result that they were told that insurance was unnecessary for church purposes. The voting papers for the nomination of candidates for the Education Board came to hand. Mr. Darton was the retiring member, who was eligible for re-election. The opinion was expressed that Mr. Darton was a very live member of the Board. Mr. Hay proposed that the committee nominate Mr. Darton. Seconded by Mr. Eyson, and carried. The head master’s and inspector’s reports were read and adopted. Mr. H. Hill, Inspector, reported that- tile roll was 150, and 128 were present, the average attendance . being 92 per cent, since the opening o, the school.

The head master, Mr. J. H. Bull, reported that there had been 10 more departures than admissions. The large amount of wet weather had militated against a good percentage. Detail matters and various requirements were entered into, and the committee, decided to give attention to the requirements.

The secretary stated that Mr. Hawley and himself were the visiting committee, and everything was satisfactory. The visiting committee for July were Messrs. Maude and Morgan. Accounts amounting to £ll 18s 5d wero passed for payment. It was stated that £ll 10s 3d eajntation had been received. The proceeds from, the concert amounted to £2l 6s, and it was decided to ask the Education Board for the subsidy equivalent. , After-transacting routine business the committee adjourned.
