Androw Black, the greatest English baritone of the day, and Leopold Premyslav, the Paderewski of the violin, is a combination the equal of which has never before visited Gisborne. AVhether it be in Berlin, AVarsaw, or Paris, the names of Premyslav is familiar to every violinist. As a little boy of seven, lie toured country after country*'as a violin genius, playing such gigantic masterpieces as Bach’s “Chacoune,” Mendelssohn’s concerto, etc. Indeed, his talent was so great that he attracted the attention of the great Joachim, who immediately took him

under liis care, and Mendelssohn, the nephew of the composer, has always taken the greatest interest in his career. After many years of arduous study he made his reappearance in Berlin and London, where lie was acclaimed, by Press and public alike, a great violinist. PremyslaV, unlike man - prodigies, has fulfilled the promise of his youthful genius. To return to Andrew Black, those who have not hoard him in Schubert’s “Erlkonig,” or Schumann’s '‘Two Grenadiers,”- or the Scotch ballad, “Blue Bonnets over the-Border,!’ little know what is in store for them. The company also includes that brilliant pianiste, Miss Bessie Beattie, and the well-known soprano, Miss llosina Buckmann. .
