BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS
Press Association. TIMARU, yesterday. At a meeting of the Tiniaru North School Committee, a circular. was read from the Wellington Citizens’ Bible-in-Schools Committee, asking fo .• an expression of opinion upon the question of the Bible being read in th? schools as a classic; the - State school teachers only to supervise - the reading- After discussion it was resolved that the . Committee . cannot support the proposal; ajs submitted- in the circular, because it limits . the reading of the Bible to supervision under State teachers and excludes ministers, who are better qualified, and who have for years given Bible instruction in their schools with distinct advantage. At the same time, this Committee will readily support any proposal to take a plebiscite of the people of the colony upon the general question.”
