A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION
Tho sixth annual East Coast Mounfed -Rifle ball was held at His Majesty’s Theatre last night, there being about 130 couples on tho floor, Al. arrangements wero thorough and complete, and reflected credit on the comniitteo and the secretary (Lieut. C Hellier Evans), Music was supplied by the City Baiul, and the extras were played by Misses Elsio Sweet, Olive Reynolds, WoodbineJohnson, and Mr. J. Dods. The following conunitteo worked energetically to promote the success of tho ball: —Capt. Tombleson, Sur-geon-Capt. Scott, Liouts. Evans and Hamilton, Sgt.-Major Myrrisou, Q.M.-Sgt. Zachariah, Farrier-Sgt. Davidson, Ambulancc-Sgt. Oates, Sgts. jFairlie, Witters, Kinder, and Cole, Corpl, Williams, Troopers Bright, Gibson, Haapu, Parker, Stewart, and Wauchop, Lieut, 0, Hellier Evans (lion. sec. and troas.),
The function was ,in every way successful, and a very enjoyablo evening was spent bv those present. Dancing was continued until an early hour this morning. . A telegram was received from’ tlie Hon. J. Carroll, • thanking the committee for their kind invitation to the ball, and regretting that owing to pressure of public business it was not possible to be present. He trust-, ed, however, that the function would be equally as successful as in former years, and that all would thoroughly enjoy themselves'. 1 Colonel ' Porter, C. 8., and Captain J. H.
