Bannerman assured a deputation of Welsh members ol the House of Commons that the Government had the fuUest desire and expectation to deal with the question of Welsh disestablishment as soon as possible this Parliament, but in view of the Hausp of Lords question he did not think it wise to fix a date. He was conyymejLtlie measure would consolidate Welsh national forces. Mr Asquith declared it would be a matter of reproach if Parliament ended without the Bill passing all stages. The Houserd Commons is debating the Mr. Haldane, .announced that ~lie intended . utilising, in accordance with Mr. Balfour’s suggestion, 101 out of 124 militia battalions as third.and fourth battalions. They will belong to the regulars, and the rest to the territorials. In the House of Lords, Lord Belper, with a view to adoption instead of election, moved to refer the Women Councillors Bill to a select committee. The intervention of Lord Milper . saved the Bill. The debate was .adjourned to.enable the Government to furnish certain statistics.
