Deceased was very wel 1 Known and her death will be regretted by a large circle of friends. There are eight boys and one girl left, tho youngest-, a boy of 7, being placed in the care of, a relative, Mrs. It. H image.
Me. F. McLean lias resigned the pfsition of treasurer of tho Debating Society and handed it over to Air C. F. Lewis. A branch of the Political Reform ii< ague lias been formed in Gisborne and Air. F. AloLoan lias been appointed secretary. Constable Andrew of the Nnpier police force, who has been here roieiiug, returned i.y the Tarawera lust eight. Air. W. B. Alat-lieson, of Ekota Imiiii, states that rhe intimation that he is definitely announced as a candidate for Musterton seat is incorrect-. Alii Hoadley, of the firm of Headley and Co., Ltd., is at present in Gisborne. The firm intends starting a branch in this town. Air. N. Alair, who accompanies Air. Hoadley, will be the local manager. Tho Hon. J. Carroll and Air. A. Ngirta, ALH.It., loft by the Tara-wi-ra yesterday for Wellington. Dr. Pomare arrived in Gisborne on Saturday morning, on routine business. He will remain in the district for v. few days. It is understood that Air. AV. Pitt has been temporarily appointed to the position of East Coast Native Land Trustee, in succession to the late Air. J. A. Harding.
