The following news has received from the Queensland commercial agent in . the East: —Japanese papers contrast the reception oi Prince Fushima with the disastrous failure of Mr. Takaliaslii, of the Bairk of. Japan, who was unable to rroso fresh loans in Europe, and only succeeded in obtaining a renewal of; existing bonds with the help of France. The newspaper Aibo asserts that immediately upon America’s refusal, ; to assist Takaliaslii, the Rothschilds demanded exorbitant terms. Germany: refused help, and France only resj poncled in return for the promise or the recently arranged treaty. Owing to the spread of unrest in Korea, the Marquis Ito urged the Mikado to accept ids resignation as Premier. I The chief commissioner at Manna had advised that tenders will open on July Ist for six million six hundred thousand pounds of frozen beef, and two hundred and ninety thouI siand pounds of frozen mutton durI ing the year ending June, 1908.
