BOWLING.
An exciting finish characterised the final of the Gisborne Bowling Club’s singles championship, contested 63Mfcssrs. Ponsford and Nicholas. On tffi 21st head the scores were equal, aud a deciding head had to be played. Ponsford. moved the “jack” and lay shot, Nicholas failing in a good attempt to retrieve the position. Mr. Ponsford thus won by 17 to 16, and the veteran skipper was warmly congratulated on his victory, the seventh or eighth in the annals of the club. Mr. Nicholas also received commendation for his fine game.
