A horse belonging to Mr. Geraud, of Wailii, was drowned in a rather peculiar way. The owner had tied a rope round the animal’s head to facilitate catching it, and it' would appear as if the animal, in an effort tq scratch its neck, had placed its foot within tlio rope encircling its neck, and,, being unable to get it's foot out again, cpmiueuceil to struggle. Then it fell, anil being perfectly helpless, rolled down the hillside into a creek, where it was drowned.
