ANGLICAN CHURCH JUBILEE
The above great event is to be celebrated this week, and is arousing striking interest . throughout the length and breadth of the colony. In the great centres and large towns arrangements are being made for great public meetings and commemorative ceremonies.
In the parish of Holy Trinity, Gisborne, the authorities have everything completed for observing the jubilee in a fitting manner. Tonight a great united conversazione is to be held in His Majesty’s Thea-t tre at S o’clock. The Vicar of Gisborne, speaking on this gathering last Sunday, urged the people to regard it as an occasion for meeting old friends and greeting new ones—there must. be no stiffness and dry formality. He wished it to be clearly understood also that the social w r as for all people in the district, and not for Church of England parishioners only. Ho regarded every resident as his friend, and would be glad to meet them at the gathering on Tuesday evening. _
At to-night's commemoration there is to be vocal and instrumental music, and refreshments are to he served during the evening. Further festivities in connection with the jubilee will be held later on in the week. Due notice will be given in our advertising columns. The jubilee will be consummated on Sunday next with great choral festival services in the church, - and also in the suburbs of lva.itil /find Mangapapa, :, -Mi Thd Vicar asks all residents to keep the Sunday services in memory. Extensive alterations in the seating accommodation at the church are being made in anticipation of very large, congregations.
