CELEBRATION OE THE

JUBILEE.

Tlio jubilee of the Church of England in New Zealand as a legally constituted body will bo held tlnoughou the colony during this week. The celebrations in this district are arranged as follows:-On Tuesday next a great united commemoration of all residents in town and district will be hold in His Majesty s Theatre at 8 p.m. The gathering is to bo of a musical and social nature, and there are to be one or two short addresses on the subject of the jubilee Kelreshments will bo served during the evening. The admission to this festival is one shilling. Oil Thursday, the actual Jubilee Hay, there will be a celebration of the Holy Eucharist in Trinity .Church at 10 a.m. The Vicar invites all communicants to attend. In the evening, at 8 o’clock, there is to bo a mooting in the schoolroom. Eaitic lars of this will be announced later. The jubilee culminates on Sunday next with great choral services in Trinity Church, and also at Haiti and Mangapapa. There is to be a jubilee golden offering m aid ot church cxtensioii at the centre, and also in the suburbs. Yesterday was treated throughout the parish as a day of preparation for the jubilee. Very good congregations were present at all services. The Vicar of Gisborne preached at

Trinity Church in the evening on the text, “Speak unto the children that they go forward.” He spoke of the great epoch which was about to be celebrated, Let all residents in this favored’ parish remember the heroism of the early missionaries and

clergy and lay workers. Let them go forward now and prove .themselves worthy sons and daughters of worthy sires. The raising of the amount asked for was a simple matter if all did their best. He invited all residents to the services and festivities.
