Mr. A. A. B.ethune, Government Audit Inspector, leaves this morning for Auckland.

At a meeting of the Auckland City Council on Thursday the Mayor presented the Humane Society’s medal to F. Tester, who behaved in a most courageous riianner in attempting tc save Mrs. Driscoll from burning or October 24, 1905, Tester found Mrs. Driscoll enveloped in flames. He wrapped her in a sack, and tore the burning clothes off with his bare hands. Mrs, Driscoll died later, but Tester’s bravery in extinguishing thr fire, while himself badly burned, no , doubt saved the life of her husband y - | was asleep, and valuable propeity.
