United Pross Association— Copyright *

LONDON, Juno 5. The anti-grazing movement is extending in the West of Ireland Judge Wakely, at the Bogle sessions, declared that the condition of Roscommon was deplorable, and was not what was expected in a civilised country. Such illegalities should be put down.

Received June 6, 9.30 p.m. LONDON, Juno 6. The House of Lords was engaged for two days in debating the condition of Ireland. The Irish peers produced testimony of increased lawlessness and terrorism. The object of tho anti-grazing agitation was to force sales of land at prairie value. Lord Denman’s remark that cattle(djijiving was not a crime of a very sorious nature was severely criticised. Lord Crewe explained that Lord Denman did not intend to minimise such criminal and disorderly acts. He merely argued that driving was less serious than maiming. Lord Crewe heartily agreed with Lord Londonderry in his vindication of the law. It ought never to be regarded a I party question. Ho admitted that severe watchfulness was necessary, adding that tho Government relied I on the ordinary law. declared that tho Government was determined to put in operation all powers of law they possessed. I Tho Daily Chronicle says Lord Denman’s remark was not very judicious. I Driving may ho used very effectively as a means of intimidation, and lead 1 to serious disorder.
