Press Association. HASTINGS, yesterday. J Tile new Grand Hotel, the property of tile Napier Brewery Company, was opened for business to-day. The hotel is situated in the heart of Hastings, and contains 157 rooms, with living accommodation for over 150 . people. The building, which is five storeys high, has been well finished, { and compares with the best in the colony. PALMERSTON, yesterday. The case for the Union in the flaxmilling dispute is now before the Arbitration Court. The evidence called so far is in support of the contention by the Union that work at the mills affects the health, more or less, of all those employed, the throat and lungs suffering principally. Financially the Union contends that the recommendation of the Conciliation Board, if made the basis of an award by the Arbitration Court will only increase the present cost of production of fibre by 10s per ton.
