SOCIAL AT PATUTAHI

A successful concort given by the pupils of Miss Fishenden in the Patutahi Hall was largely attended. The programme opened with a pianoforte duet, “Prince Imperial,” by Misses J. Habgood and B. Geyde, and was well* played. Miss Mona Hamon, a tiny tot of five, was recalled three times for her sweet little song, “Why Don’t They Play With Me?” and she repeated “Bombay” amidst cheers. The pianoforto solo, “Silvery Waves,” by Miss N. O’Connell, was well rendered. For her vocal solo, “In the Valley Where the Blue Birds Sing,” Miss Florrie Burke received an encore. The pianoforte solo, “The Robin’s Return,” by Miss K. O’Connell, was greatly enjoyed. The vocal solo, “Always in the Way,” by Miss Julie Hamon, was highly appreciated, and received an encore. Tho pianoforte trio, “Canary Birds,” by Misses Ivy, Binie, Noni Hamon, was excellently played. Tho vocal solo, “Just Becauso You Were an Old Sweetheart of Mine,” by Miss Ivy Hamon, was sweetly sung, and received a hearty cncoro. The pianoforte duet, “Frozen Nest,” by Misses J. Habgood and- B. Geyde, was well rendered. Tho recitation, “O’Grady’s Goat,” by Master F. Jones, almost brought the house down. The pianoforto solos “The Mocking Bird” and “The Wearing of tho Green” were well given by Miss F. Burke. A sailors’ hornpipe was well danced by Misses K. O’Connell and Noni Hamon. The cantata “School Holiday ’ was well given by the pupils, headed by Miss N. Hamon, who took the character of “Queen.” Tho concert closed with a farce, “Lodgings to Let,” in which Misses Hamon, Binie Hamon, Gladys Lucas, Florrie Jones, and Nellie O’Connell took part. The accompaniments during the evening were played by Misses Fishenden, Hamon, and Bnrke. An enjoyable dance followed, music being supplied by Mrs. A. Thompson and Misses Ivy and Binie Hamon and Florrie Burke. - Mr. Ritchie officiated as M.C.
