THE SCHOOL BATH.
MKETING' OR COMMITTEE,
Tho meeting convened for the purpose of deciding and making arrangements about the proposed social, was held at tho Borough Chambers last night, Mr. J. Somervell being in the chair. On. the motion of Mr. F. J. Row--ley, it was decided to hold the social on Util, and 12th July, provided that the New Zealand Shipping Co.’s wool shed will be available, the secretary, Mr. J. S. Wauchop, to make the necessary 'arrangements.. The following charges were decided upon: For the first evening os gents and 2s 6d ladies, and for the second evening 3s (to admit adult and 2 children) and Is.. The next meeting of the committee will be held next Thursday night at 7.30.-
: ifr. T. G. Lawless -asked for information concerning tho baths. Mr. Rowley stated that about £l2O was collected last year and they had a promise of £25 and £l9 10s the proceeds of a concert given by Mr. Massey. Interest on the money lying at the bank, brought it up to a total of £l7O, and they were in funds, at the present time. The construction of the bath was" in the hands of capable architects who were discussing the various plans and specifications. They were prepared to go on with tlie bath as soon as the details were decided upon. The bath would bo open and dressing sheds would' be provided. They anticipated having sufficient funds after the social; but if they had not a gentleman in Gisborne was willing to advance tho necessary amount, until they were able to repay. There was nothing to hinder tho erection of the baths at once.
Mr. IT. Withers asked lor the dimensions of tlie hath and Mr. Rowley stated them to be 75 feet long, 30 feet wide and from 3 to 8 feet deep, thus being the same as the school hath in Christchurch. Tlio Secretary was instructed to make arrangements for the presence of the City Band. •
Mr. J. Townley was appointed permanent - Ghairiunn- -of the General Committee, and Messrs. J. S. Wau--sop and J. Little, joint secretaries.
