MATAWHERO STOCK SALES,

There was a good attendance at the Matawliero saleyards yesterday, when the usual fortnightly sale of stock was held. There was a drop n the sheep market, except for wethers, good lambs, and young ewes. Messrs. Common, Shelton, and Co. and Dalgety and Co. had about 3000 sheep to dispose of, mostly lambs. Following were prices : —Sheep : 33 wethers in forward condition Ids, • fat ewes Ids Id, 84 empty ewes 10s 7d, 100 woolly lambs 9s, 27 small woolly lambs 6s 9d, 80 lambs 7s lid, 173 .snnall do. 5s Id, 9 empty cull ewes 7s 6d, 396 lambs Bs, 323 lambs 10s 6d, 241 ewes in lamb to Romney rams 14s lid, 215 empty owes—fat and forward 10s lid, 293 wethers 13s 2d, 100 lambs 9s 7d, 124 Small lambs 4s lOd. Cattle: 17 bullocks £5 2s 6d, 2 fat cows £4 10s, 1 springer £5, 25 calves 28s. Pigs : Good butchers’ porkers brought from 28s to 30s.

Mining returns show the Komata Reefs obtained £3958 from 2150 tons of ore, and the Grancl Junction £6400 from 2856 tons of ore.

B OTTER FREIGHTS RAISED AA r ELLINGTON, yesterday.

The National Dairy Association has notified dairy companies that tile cheap-freights for butter, Is 9d per. ton, and cheese, 3s 8d per cwt, wili end on June 20tli, and the old freights, 2s 6d for butter and Ad per Id for cheese, will be reverted to. The low rates were due to competition of the Federal lino, how ended, and the shipping companies say the rate did not pay.

DIVIDENDS FROM GOLTT-MINES AUCKLAND, AVednseday. From May 31st to June sth no less than £195,000 will be distributed in dividends by the three mining companies operating on the Hauraki Peninsula. Tlie Talisman pays £30,000 of which £20,000 comes to shareholders in the colony; the ~AA r aihi pays a dividend and bonus of £150,000; and the AVaiotalii pays £15,000.
