PROTECTION WANTED.

Mr. Efihu Root, referring to recent attacks on Japanese restauranteurs at Sail Francisco, requested, the Governor of California to protect Japanese, and to see that the treaty between Japan and the United States was enforced. Although Tokio advices state that the Japanese do not attach cardinal importance to the attacks On restaurant keepers, yet indignation has been aroused. Baron Hayashi directed Viscount Aoki, Japanese Ambassador, to demand the protection of Japanese.
