Five thousand Johnnnesburgers expressed sympathy with the strikers, and advocated compulsory arbitration.
HUMBLING THE EMPLOYERS,
PRETORIA, May 27. Mr. R. L. Outhwaite, a member M the Executive of the Transvaal National Assembly, declared that the minors would bring the financiers to their knees, and compel them to plead for arbitration.

Since tho military was summoned the strikers on the. Rand are quieter, but they are confident of the result, declaring the employers will be compelled to feed the Chinese and Kaffir coolies until a settlement of the dispute is arrived at.
