INVERCARGILL, yesterday

Ella Blondell, of Nightcap, aged four years, during the temporary absence of her mother, got too close to the fire. Her clothes caught, and she was so severely burned about the head, face, and shoulders that she died this morning in Riverton Hospital. GREYAIOUTH, last night.

A fatal accident occurred at the State Coal Mine this afternoon, whereby a young lad named Stanley Wagsmith lost his life. The lad was employed as a screen boy and got his arm caught in the travelling belt. He was terribly injured and died half an hour after lie was released. Deceased was a bright intelligent lad of 16 years of age.
