HOCKEY.
A ladies’ hockey team, selected from the Napier teams and the To Kooti team (Hastings), will leave Napier next Tuesday evening for Gisborne to try conclusions with the local ladies on Thursday afternoon. The local team is in splendid form and good match is anticipated. The film selection of the players will be decided at a meeting to be held this afternoon and it is hoped that the public will turn out in large numbers to witness the game, which is expe'
to prove very interesting. Admission is only 6d. It is intended to ask Mr. Pavitt to take charge of tho whistle and Messrs. J. Dods and H. Garrett to act as lino umpires. The hockey season will be opened to-morrow (Empire Day) on Victoria Domain, when West End will play Kia Kaha and City will play Te Ran. Tho teams aro as follows:—West End Wi, Ollivor, E. Roderick, Pirio, Olsen, Glover, McLaclilan, Robertson, Roderick, Rice, Hooper. . Emergencies: Wills, Bean, Cary.
