Tho maternity homo was oponod by the Mayor this nftornoonf Tho visitors wore shown over tho building by Dr. Batchelor and Nursos Murison and Ilay. Tho latter succeeds tho former in cliargo of tho homo at tlio end of the wook.

Tho Mayor congratulated tho management on tho modernity, excellent equipment and comfort of tho institution, duo to the offorts of Dr. Batchelor.

Dr. Batchelor emphasised the necessity for medical students attending maternity casos for practical experience, and said that the late Mr. Soddon supported tho movement. Ho hoped there would bo a friendly rivalry between tho maternity homo and tho St. Holon’s lying-in hospital as the two institutions wero for entirely different classes of patients.
