Millar’s enforcement of the Factories Act and contended that the half-holiday should be observed in all classes of employment on the same day and that day should be Saturday. A committee was appointed and a large number of members were enrolled. ASHBURTON, last night. An occupier of a factory was fined 5s and costs for failing to give his employees a half-holiday- on March 30th, the 'day after Good Friday. The defendant contended that 1 having

given a special holiday in one week there was no need to give the usual half-holiday.
