The British Board of Trade returns show that the imports for April increased by £9,727,000, and tlio oxports increased by £7,354,000, compared with the previous April. Tho increased exports are due to a big inereaso of articles wholly or mainly manufactured. Tho imports of raw material was £6,ix,J,000 above tho previous April, including £4,000,000 LONDON MARKETS. LONDON, May 8. The American visible supply of wheat is 79,660,000 bushels. At the tallow sales 1246 casks were offered and 1231 sold. Prices: Mutton, tine 36s 6d, medium 345; beef, fine 36s 9d, medium 33s 9d. Tho wool sales were splendid. Prices for all sorts advanced. Prices of metals: Iron, 160 s 6d; lead, £l9 12s 6d; silver, 2s 5 o-16d. Press Association. NAPIER, last night. The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Co. cabled to-day as follows : —Erozen meat market —to-day’s quotations: Mutton, Canterbury, 4d, Napier, Wellington, and North Issand, 3gd; lamb, first quality old, second od; beef, hind-quarters 3Jd, fores 3Jd. The cheese market is steady, with improved demand, at 625. The hemp market is quiet but firm. Good fair grade, on spot, £33 10s per ton; May-June shipments, £33 10s; fair grade, on spot, £3O. GOLD-MINING RETURN. AUCKLAND, last night. The Talisman’s April return is £11,34-5, from 4136 tons of ore.
