BLANCHE ARRAL.
HIS MAJESTY’S, TO-NIGHT. With the hall-mark of four of the world's g-reat opera houses to recommend her, Blanche Arral; who is to make her initial bow to a Gisborne audience this evening at His Majesty's Theatre, cannot fail to attract all lovers of operatic music. Madame Arral, us an operatic soprano, lias charmed audiences in three continents, and wherever she lias given recitals in the colonies both Press and public have been warm in her praise. This evening Madame Arral will give a number of excerpts from “Mignon,” tlie opera in which the new prima donna made her debut'. Among the numbers from “Mignon” will he the celebrated Polacca, “I am Titania.” From “Faust” she will sing the grand recitative and aria, “King of Thule,” also the famous “Jewel Song.” The versatility of Madame’s powers will be Ciearly demonstrated, for she will also sing the Page’s song from Meyerbeer’s “Huguenots,” and the grand aria from Galatliee (Masse). A special feature of the recital will be that Madame Arral will appear in appropriate costumes, and will sing in suitable stage settings. No fewer than five distinct costume changes will bo made during tho recital. The instrumental portion of the programme will be in capable hands, Signor Alberto Torzillo, harpist, and Herr G. Paaus, violinist, furnishing the orchestral accompaniments. Tickets fo,r all parts of the theatre will bo on sale at Mr. Miller’s to-day.
