BLANCHE ARRAL.
The operatic recitals given recently in Australia, and in Dunedin, AA’ell ing toil, and Auckland, by the famous operatic star, Blanche Arral, have created something akin to a sensation in musical circles, owing to the high quality of the performances. Nightly a charmed and fascinated audience has cheered her to the echo, and without the theatres at the close of the performance large crowds have awaited the departing prinia donna and accorded her ovations. Apart from Mad a nib's splendid voice, tlie. entertainment presented is said to be unique. The management presents a series of scenes or excerpts from all the world’s famous operas, with a background of scenery and costumes probably equal to the best ever worn by a visiting artiste. The entire performance is supported by a small orchestra of competent instrumentalists Scenes from “Mignon,” “Faust,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Trnviata,” “Lucia,” “Huguenots,” “L’Africaine,” “Lakmo,” “Carmen,” “Beggar Student,” and others will he performed during tho short Gisborne season. Seats can be booked at Mr. Miller’s, where the box plan is now open.
