PERSONAL.

At the meeting of the Hospital Trustees last night Air. Kenway said

he would like to move a motion in regard to the secretary’s salary. The amount of work that Air. Coleman

did was phenomenal, and his salary of £6O a year was totally inadequate. He moved that it be increased' to £IOO. Mr. Coleman’s heart was in his work, and his courtesy and tact in dealing with matters was above all praise. The Chairman and other members warmly supported the motion, paying a high tribute to the many services rendered by Mr. Coleman to the Hospital. The motion was carried, and the high appreciation expressed by the Trustees was' recorded on the minutes. Mr. Coleman thanked tho Trustees for the increase and their kind remarks. So long as be retained the secretaryship ha would do his utmost for the welfare'"of the institution. Judge Itawson, of the Native Appellate Court, who has been up the coast, returned, to town on Thursday night, and leaves for Wellington per the Moura on Sunday. . Messrs 11. M. Birrell, A. F. Kennedy, and W. Adair leavo to-day by the Zealandia en routo to the Old Country. Mr. Kissling. who has recontly arrived in Gisborne as local manager of tho newly-opened branch of the A.M.P. Society, has been secured! for tho Holy Trinity choir. It is stated that Mr. Kissling is an accomplished oratorio singer and the choir is to be congratulated on his acquisition.

About fifty representative citizens gathered in the Farmers’ Union Club rooms yesterday afternoon to bid good-bye to Mr. A. F. Kennedy, who leaves to-day on a trip to the Old Country. Afr. J. Townley presented .Mr. Kennedy with a purse of sovereigns and in his complimentary references to Air. Kennedy was supported by Mr. .T. AA r . Bright. Mr. Kennedy Suitably responded on behalf of himself and Mrs. Kennedy.
