BOWLING.
At tlie invitation of the President of the Giborne Bowling Club, the members of the Besses o’ tli’ Barn Band attonded at the green yesterday afternoon, and played a four-rink match with tho members of the local club. The visitors are all bowlers, and gave their opponents a very enjoyable afternoon’s play. Tlie President and Mr. W. J. Honnessy were untiring in their efforts to make tho visitors as comfortable as possible. The following is the result of the

DISTRICT SHIELD MATCHES. In the district shield matches uncle;’ the atispices of the Gisborne Club,which were continued on Thursday afternoon, West End defeated Whataupoko, and Ivaiti had the best of their games with City. Up to the present Ivaiti have secured 2 wins, West End 1 win’ 1 loss, Whataupoko 1 loss, City 1 loss. Next Thursday a further round will be played, Ivaiti playing Whataupoko, and City meeting AVcst End.
