Of this number twenty-live were from Wellington , twenty from Wanganui, five from Hawke’s Bay, four from Nelson, .oue from Marlborough, and one from Grey. Nineteen (in the B division) had passed the matriculation or some higher university examination,, but had not previously served a pupil teacher’s apprenticeship, and thirtyfive (in A division) had served such apronticeship. No student under division B is admitted for a shorter period than two years whilst some six in A division have entered for one year only. Tho principal (Air. Gray) adds: “The two years’ course is strongly recommended for all students, one year being barely sufficient to bring the student into touch with the full benefits of the Training College course; but, perhaps, it may still be necessary for a year or two to make a few exceptions to the two years’ course in the cases of those whose pupil teachership has extended over a period of four or five years.” Thirty students presented themselves for the terms’ examinations, and of these twenty-six passed-—five for third year’s terms, five for second, and sixteen for the first year’s terms. In addition, several passed the university examinations, though they were not qualified to count the results for terms. The result of the degree and teachers’ certificate examinations were equally satisfacory.
