LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON, April 30. The wool sales have opened. Prices , ranged from par to a7J per cent, decline. ' A total of 9609 bales was catalogued including 7159 New Zealand, mostly an inferior selection. There was a largo attendance and fair competition Merinos were unchanged, medium crossbreds declined 7J per cent, coarse 5 per cent and line from’par to 5 per cent. PROSPEROUS SUGAR COMPANY. SYDNEY, May 1. The net profit of the Colonial Sugar Company for the half-year was £IIO,OOO. A dividend at the rate of 10 per cent, has been declared. Press Association. COLONIAL CUSTOMS DUTIES. NEW PLYMOUTH, yesterday. The Customs duties collected at New Plymouth in April amounted to £2562—a record month. Last April the amount was £2718. Every month this year shows a marked increase. The exports of butter and cheese for the eight months September to April, exceed half a million pounds in value. WELLINGTON, yesterday. The Custome revenue collected at Wellington for April shows an increase of £17,149 6s 9d as compared with the corresponding month of last year. GOLD-MINJNG RETURNS. ' AUCKLAND, last night. For the period ended April 20th the Waihi Grand Junction Co. treated 3442 tons of ore for a return o! bullion valued at £7955. During .March the Waiotahi Co. treated 1407 tons 9 cwt. 71 lb picked stone for a yield of melted gold valued at £19,272.
