A meeting of the country players w'aa held iii the Masonic Hotel on Saturday evening, Mr J. S.AY auchop presiding. # ' _ ' ' . ~ On the motion of the chairman it was decided to amalgamate the Iluia and Takitimu clubs, the new district to be called the Talvitiniu district, the colors to be maroon. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. E. Murphy; president, Mr. Hollier; vice-presidents, Messrs C. H. Williams, W. Currie, L. 1. Svnms. A. AV. Rees, A. Dewing, h. j'. Lysnar, 11. N. Lysnar, 11. G. Halla more, li. Cole, W. J). Lysnar, J. S. Wauchop: captain, To Reinga ; vicecaptain, j .Gibson ; secretaries, lLeini Kara and B. Malone; treasurer, J. S. AVauchop; committee, lvaipara, Miller, Iluru Hum, Eergusson, McKenzie, Thomson, _ Hercwniia ; selection committee, lvaipara, Te Reinga, .J. Gibson; delegates, J. S. AVauchop and B. Malone; auditor, C.J. Hamilton. . _ The subscription was fixed at os for seniors and 2s 6d for juniors. The secretaries were requested to forward lists ,of players immediately. It was decided to hold a practice, if possible, on Saturday afternoon at the A T ictoria Domain. ' Press Association.
AUCKLAND, last night. The football season opened yesterday with a match Cricketers v. NonCriclceters. which resulted in a victory for the Non-Cricketers by nine to three. The proceeds will he devoted to the Auckland Cricket Association Coach Fund.
