BICYCLE ROAD RACE
' The road race organised by Mr. H. Anderson was got off last evening. The course was from the AVhataupoko bridge, round Makauri, ami finishing at the corner of Gladstone road and Grey street. Tlie roads were in very bad order for racing, am. caused considerable trouble to. the com petitors, several accidents being narrowly averted. Eleven starters went to the post, and all were sent away well with the exception of A. E. Wil-l.-inpmi who fooled one of the starters, handicapping ami ratheVDadiyr. —Tinrace resulted :
li. Houston (50 sec.) 1 H. Davis (35 sec.) 2 A. E. AVilkinson (30 see.) 3 IT. Anderson (scr) 4 and fastest time (40} min) Huston won easily, Davis crossing the line several seconds later, and a good race for third place resulted between AVilkinson and Anderson. The winner receives a set of tyres presented by Alessrs. J. B. Clakson, Ltd., Palmerston, Davis receives a gold-centered silver medal for second place, and H. Anderson was awarded a gold medal for fastest time. The first and second places, also fastest time, were captured by riders of B.S.A. machines. Mr. AA T . Howard declared satisfactory handicaps and Mr. R. Clark acted as judge and time keeper. -
