Government service, being only twenty-nine years of age. The duties have been carried out by him In charge of the N.L.C. Office, Giseerned. The only bar to Air. Colonel Porter, President of the Tai Rawhiti Land Council, proceeds Lo • Wellington to-morrow, to confer with the under secreatry on matters connected with the-Board.

Judge Fisher, the newly appointed U.S. for Native affairs, has only' recently been elevated to the N.L.C. Bench. judge Fisher was for the past two years president of the Aotoa Land Board, Yvhnngaiuii District. For about nine years prior to this appointment he was reserves agent at New Plymouth. He completely reorganised the Department of the Public Trustee in that district, showing such marked ability that he was singled out as president for tho Aotea Land Board on the decease of Judge Butler, the former president, later for a seat on the N.L.C. Bench and now for the under-sec.rctaryship. Judge Fisher is a comparatively young man and should bo able to reorganise the Department ,a proceeding sadly needed, if allowed a free hand in the matter.
